Ferry terminal at Batangas. After our 3km prologue in Manila we caught a bus to Batangas, a coastal city 3 hrs out of Manila. Here we caught a ferry to Mindoro (to a tiny port village called Wawa).

The 2.5hr ferry trip got us to Wawa well after dark. After donning head torches we rode off down a deserted road looking for a low-key lodging house mentioned in the LP book. After a bit of confusion with some shy locals we managed to get ourselves a basic room for the night. Bed, fan, tap and bucket, and a toilet bowl - what more could you need? Food, actually: a young dude came to the room and said something about food, and beer - we assumed he was offering these things, but after lounging in our room for an hour and half we peeped outside and it appeared everybody had gone to bed.
